Full circle series step 2: The mock MMI workshop
To do well in your interview, one thing is unavoidable - practice! We gave students the opportunity to practice thier interview technique with current students and doctors. Students and volunteers both found this event extremely useful and enjotable. We look forward to the next one!
Full circle series step 1: Getting into Medicine
Our first in-person event since before COVID, we gave over 20 students insight into navigating the medical and dental school application process. We also gave them incredible insight into our journeys.
Dental school interview preperation
Our dental team ran an interactive session for students who are applying for dentistry. The students left feeling prepared and even excited for their upcoming interviews.
Interview workshop
Interviews are made less daunting for all those who attend our annual interview workshop. We cover top tips for interviews, medical ethics and NHS hot topics, We also gave our students a chance to practice interview questions and critique eachothers answers.
How to ace the BMAT
Our outreach lead, Dr Innocent ran this detailed workshop about how to ace the BMAT exam for prospective students. Over 30 students benefitted from this free event.
Summer bootcamp
We set up a three week programme to equip applying students with the knowledge that is sometimes missed - how to develop the traits that are actually going to make you a good doctor. Our team ran interactive sessions and weekly challenges for our team.

The first event we ever ran. For the 4th year running we ran our free annual event covering all the essential tips and knowledge you need to get into medicine and dentistry.
Graduate entry medicine: how do I get in?
Our event covered all the things we know graduate students are wooried about - the application process, finances, being older than peers and much more. We had an amazing turnout of over 50 students who benefitted from this event.
Study abroad Q+A
Our incredible study abroad network put together this event to answer questions regarding to studying medicine or dentistry abroad. We had many unique perspectives to give a broad insight to our students.

The FP process can be confusing at best, our mentoring lead Charles took our students through the process and provided reassurance for students worried about deaneries, the SJT and everything else students need to prepare for.
How to survive FY1
Transitioning from a medical student to a foundation doctor can be very nerve wracking, our medical advisory board shared invaluable insight into how to make the best of F1 training and learn as much as possible!
How to be a good mentor
Mentoring has always been the foundation of our charity, so we ran this event as an opporunity for anyone who is interested in becoming a mentor to learn about how to make the most of their role.
OSCE Workshop
Our OSCE workshop enabled students to pracitce case studies, practice their exam technique and recap common clinical scenarios. Students noted that this event was vital in their subsequent OSCE success.
Doctors and Dentists Q&A Panel x Melanin Medics
THANK YOU to all of the doctors and dentists who took time out of their busy schedules to enrich our attendees with their expertise. Our panel was outstanding. The doctors and dentists were open and honest about their struggles with maintaining a work life balance, lack of representation, and intersectionality for black female medics. It was a privilege to host such an event.

That 9-5 life, with no work on the weekend, annual leave without having to go to war with your rota coordinator. Hmm…. We can only dream!!!!!
We spoke with to Dr’s Carlon and Pid’ange to explore everything ranging from life as a salaried GP, private practice, portfolio career and clinical entrepreneurship. It was great to see other career options!
Feeling disillusioned in the NHS
We always want to ensure our events are topical and relevant to our community. We found that our colleagues and peers were discussing how they are ready to quit the NHS, with these conversations becoming more frequent. We spoke with our panellists about the current state of the NHS and how we can make the most of it.
Navigating social media as a medic
With the constant evoluation of social media, many medics are now trying to build a personal brand to showcase their experiences and expertise. We were joined with an esteemed panel of medics who gave us incredible insight and tips about how we can build a brand!
Inside: Black people and COVID-19
We held this event to discuss the implications of the virus on our community and healthcare workers. It was a challenging but uplifting event, in which we discussed the fact that the black community has been disproportionately affected, the implications on the NHS, how it has affected mental health services, and most importantly, how we can implement change . Thank you to our esteemed panel for sharing their expertise.
A year on: the impact of lockdown on mental health
We had a candid and uplifting event about the impact of COVID-19 and repeated lockdowns on the mental health of our community. Our panel spoke about thier own experiences while providing our attendees with practical tips about how they can cope with the effects of the pandemic.
Aim High x Lambeth Council
We were excited to be part of the 'Aim High' event organised by Lambeth Council for the second consecutive year, inspiring over 500 Caribbean students from primary schools within Lambeth. Our ambassador network supported us in giving insight to these students about the healthcare profession, which the students thoroughly enjoyed.
Kings College London Widening Participation Conference
We ran a station for over 200 prospective students from widening participation backgrounds, informing students how to apply to university and once there, how to make the most of your experience by taking part in extra-curricular activities. It was great to see so many students getting involved in discussion and learning how to be the best medical student they can be. Thank you for Kings College London for including us in this event!
Creating a turning point on race equality in medicine
We were privileged enough to be invited to the British Medical Association, as an organisation who plays a key role in addressing racial inequality within medicine. The event was attended by other key stakeholders in this issue, and was focused on finding solutions to the racial disparity shown throughout medicine.
