Monique invests her time and knowledge into aiding other African and Caribbean students enter the healthcare profession. She has built the resilience needed to pursue medicine, as failure to get the grades to secure her initial offer resulted in her pursuit of medicine through the graduate route. She was a Graduate Entry medical student, winning multiple awards and scholarships for her work. She hopes to pass her resilience, knowledge and experience onto prospective students, ensuring others do not miss out on their opportunity to study medicine. She is currently a GP trainee having completed a medical education year after her foundation training.

Dr Shikila Edward has a passion for mental health, equality and diversity. Experiencing a less than typical journey into Medicine, she advocates for those who aren't as well represented in the medical field. Her experiences pushed her to want to help others applying as she felt unsupported and disheartened many times throughout her journey. She hopes her story will inspire those whose path into the healthcare profession is not so straightforward and wants to see an increase in African and Caribbean medical students, and ultimately doctors.
